a Re-entry Aid

Sometimes a paddler will fall out of a kayak upon capsize, and in that case a re-entry aid is immediately needed. The BackUP is designed to be quickly attachable to a paddle for use as a "paddle-float" in an outrigger self-rescue.

The BackUP is very compact. About the size of a can of 3 tennis balls, it is much smaller than fixed-volume paddle-floats, and uses little valuable deck space.

And, of course, the BackUP inflates itself! Most other compact (inflatable) paddle-floats require that you spend extra time in the water to orally inflate them. That extra exposure is dangerous. In rough water you can be separated from your boat. Cold water can reduce your muscle strength, making re-entry more difficult.
